Chicago winter brings out the worst in everyone: Fame caught listening to the 1975 for the first time...

SPRING IS COMING chicago is changing. this year I will doing and wearing everything

new nails today.

a crime against nail artists everywhere. a crime to my mobility.

fucked acrylic nails are in.

white, poorly shaped, bumpy. ugly. so sexy. cause of course I keep them clean af, they just look fucking gross.

I met someone in a sex shop in October with the craziest nails everrrr... flaired square French tip with a hot pink base. Covered in the cutest candie charms. I was so sure I took a photo but I can't find, just means I have to do it. It's the year of fucked up nail art.

im not yet sure if this is a product of my desperation for miss @trizzlynails(on ig go give her love, sweetest most talented ever) to re-open her bookings. but either way, im working with what I got and making it funny and sexy. that's what living in Chicago is for after all.

Chicago is going under a transformation. shit is getting rekindled...

its the fucking spring revival

(I can't use my hands at all this is so fun)

this spring is for wearing heels and sneakers only. I don't want to see boots unless they have fur

the black leather shoe is over. I don't care about your new rocks, doc Martens, any platform ever. if its black and leather, no.

I want to see more western hike gear. some Rocky Mountains, Montana, county fair, peaceful farming hick in the mountains type. jeans that have been covered in the bodily fluid of a cow, sheep, chicken, and horse all within the same hour. BROWN cowboy boot with embossing from 1985, paired with a pale red and blue plaid button down flannel shirt. and the strap. of course. forever wishing this was functional clothing for the chicago economy.

we need to be wearing keens, and walking in bodies of water.

THINK FISHING... this 2022...

why is no one in chicago wearing chacos. those are the funniest shoes. but no toe strap.

if you have a toe strap like me, you have to wear toe socks I don't want to see a strip of polyester ribbon between anyones toes. it is not   my job, nor place to do so.

the mini skirt is mostly tired these days. as much as I love a mini skirt as much as the next faggot... time to spread our fucking legs!

the shorts can only take up 3 inches of your hips. tiny. need to be tiny. its just fun like that.

this upcoming spring is bringing the weird out of the city of Chicago. for the first time in my 18 years I am listening to the 1975... what the actual fuck. but don't worry im only allowing myself this one time.

something in the air these days. its still frigid, but the sun is out... it's not warm, but the people are. life is coming back to everyones face.

Ive taken up drinking a lot of water. its been 3 month, no noticable Changs so far. must be good for me though.

Ive been buying caffeine and not drinking it. it just sits in the fridge. or at the bottom of the union station grand hall trash cans.

safest and best place in chicago. easy

This spring hyper pop is dead I don't want to hear any high pitched voices

Few exceptions to the hyper pop remixes out there... but generally, shut up.

this spring were letting ourselves listen to what we really like. recently Ive been into

The Streets, CFCF, DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ, The Hellp, and the song New Theory by Washed Out- major TB to that one.

None of these make sense together but it slay so good. I will not release my Spotify ever. If were friends on Spotify, you're going to be carrying my casket at the funeral... But I hope you know I still make 80% of my shit private.

For someone who loves telling everyone every graphic detail of my life, some things need to be private. and my love for Bon Iver and Stravinsky should stay under-wraps.

WHITE CLAWS are BACK

with the soon arriving warm weather and 15 more days till a 7 pm sunset, we can start buying boxes of white claws again. and once we get sick of them we will move to 32 oz Chelada for the summer.

Many specific posts coming... NFTs, Knitwear, Nudity, and much more.

FAME HAS A LOT TO SAY

FAME

Influences of FAME

this was a class assignment completed in the form of a blog post. have fun

my creative influences organized in sections...

All of these sections have a string of connections and fascination that lead to my own work. It is also important to note that all of these works/artists are intertwined with each other as well as the sections they are placed in. I chose to format this in a blog post alongside a separate post paired to work as a reference or key to this one.

3D: using my hands

Viral: digital, media usage, Internet

Violent: gross, dark, questionable

3D

 Barbara Segal- Barbara Segal

Segal is an American sculpture currently teaching at School of Visual Arts in New York. My interest in Barbara Segal came from my initial interest in the way that the original birken bag exists in the world of art and fashion. Such a high luxury product that is virtually unattainable to the general person, yet it holds such a large place in media and the world of luxury goods. For Segal to take such a high end item and make it even more valuable by hand sculpting it out of precious stone takes the Birken bag to a whole new level.

 Korczak Ziolkowski- Crazy Horse Memorial

Polish American Sculpture to credit for the idea and plans for South Dakota's Black Hills monument in process, Crazy Horse Memorial. Its carving began in 1948, set to take 30 years to complete. It been over 70 years and it is not close to being finished. In memorial to the Oglala Lakota Chief Crazy Horse whom defeated General Custer in the B Battle of Little Big Horn in 1876. Due to lack of funding, and the US governments descrustion of the surrounding land, there is a chance it will never be finished. Being raised visiting the Crazy Horse Memorial, its statement overbears the physical sight. I barely care to see it literally finished, although it would be a massive feat. I can see the depiction of Chief Crazy Horse in the people in the community. This memorial has incidentally become a sort of time based performance, as the delays in its progress are a reflection of this nations lack of recognition or efforts put toward indigenous peoples. Ziolkowski has since died in 1982 at the age of 74.

Viral

Kathy Griffin and the Beheaded Trump- https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2020-11-04/kathy-griffin-donald-trump-beheading-photo

in 2017 when Kathy Griffin released photo of her holding what seemed to be the severed head of current president Donald Trump, her career sounded to be over. Yet as we see comedians, actors, musicians in the past 2 years pull major attention to graphic or dramatic social media content as a form of gaining mass PR quickly. I think Kathy Griffin had a major statement that needed to be said drastically. It could be fair to say that if a major contemporary figure did the same it would have been perceived as a dramatic statement as art instead a hate crime. It was her being a household name on live-censored- tv that resulted in the anger she faced.

Johnny Cyrus and the Kylie Lip Kit tattoo- Buzzfeed with Johnny Cyrus

In 2016 during the peak of Kylie Jenner's makeup brand Kylie Jenner Cosmetics, the Kylie Lip Kit took over the internet. There was a high demand resulting in makeup and Kardashian/Jenner fans alike scavenging for these lipsticks. Johnny Cyrus, of Milwaukee Wisconsin, 18 years old at the time. Had color swatches of the lipsticks tattooed up his forearm, to mimic the viral snapchat videos of Kylie herself. This obviously became instantly viral leading to his title of Kylie's biggest fan.

Birken NFTs- The Guardian on Rothschild vs Hermes

Almost immediately after finding Barbara Segal, Rothschild released a line of NFTs off the iconic bags. In turn creating an entirely new market for their brand while making a very interesting statement of the physical bags. Being such a high valued object, the owners rarely use their Birkens but instead display in their homes as one would a painting or sculpture. To then create a Birken NFT, knowing the way that we interact with NFTs, is very powerful. It transforms the treatment of the physical bags to the digital world. Hermes is now suing Rothschild for the use of the bag in the NFT series.

Reddit 50/50 New way of Eating Cereal... Surprise!- content warning REDDIT 50/50

Though throughout Reddit users it is just a function to enjoy shock value. the premise is the user has a 50/50 chance of getting a nice photo or video of say a puppy or... a gross, violent, or pornographic photo or video. Reddit 50/50 had a fairly short lived moment of popularity in main stream culture among internet users through the going viral of 1 video in particular. Where a speculum in placed in a porn artists rectum and expanded to fill her anal cavity with Fruit Loops and milk. There have been software similar this in the past and since yet this one seems to have a very formative hold on Gen Z specifically. In the way it was mainly heard about through word of mouth if you were not a reddit user yourself. Making it a very cryptic and interactive style of viewing. Even if the things you are shown are not themselves art. The style of presentation is very inspiring.

Violent

The Morgue by Andres Serrano- Content Warning The Morgue

1992: Andres Serrano, native New Yorker, sneaks in to a morgue in Queens where a buddy worked and took portraits of the corpses. This series is visually shocking and naturally hard to look at as Serrano was not shy in showing the most gruesome parts of death. Many of the people had died violently and that was made clear in the titles of each photograph. Upon seeing portions of this piece for the first time in 2019 at the MCA in Chicago, I was blown. My previous fascination. with death and human anatomy were brought together so perfectly, I had never heard of Andre Serrano before. This inspired me to never sensor myself or my artwork. As life is fucking violent and evil. And to ignore that darkness would be the same as ignoring the good. It's all part of our experience  as people why not embrace it.

Wim Delvoye- Interview with Wim Delvoye

Neo-Conceptual artist from Belgium who is known for much more than his tattooed pigs but that's all I chose to focus on at the moment. In an interview, when asked why he tattoos pigs and why not people he responds that "they are easier to tattoo than fish". He tattoos them when they are young so as they grow his designs will stretch and change. So once they die, their hide will be like an original painting. I am very fascinated in this as a process for documenting his tattoo work.
